Q. What are the components of the Apollo system? A. Apollo comprises of 3 main components; Desktop, Apollo-SYS-20 and the SQL database. The database also hosts the dashboard & reporting system.
Q. What kind of hardware is required to operate an Apollo system? A. An entry level 4 core virtual machine can handle a high number of monthly transactions. A virtual server with 4-8 cores and 32GB of memory will be able to handle the daily transaction load as well as process complex reports
Q. What kind of storage is required to operate an Apollo system? A. We recommend DASD or SAN for database systems. The Apollo application will probably generate around 50-100 GB per year, but this can increase dramatically with the introduction of an OLAP type database. (such as SQL Server Analysis Services)
Q. What kind of software is required to operate an Apollo system? A. Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 or 2008 can be used as the base system (32 or 64bit OS). IRIS can be installed on SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008.
Q. Does Apollo require an Internet connection? A. Yes, Apollo communicates with the Gatehouse system if "shared" ticket entry is required - otherwise it is not mandatory.
Q. Can Apollo's; functionality be extended to fit our business requirements? A. Yes, It is possible to create your own Apollo UI & functions by connecting to the Apollo SYS 20 system. We can supply training and reference materials for your in house developers.
